Early Learning Centre (ELC)

At Sunrise Early Learning Centre's, we understand that the first 5 years of a child’s life are fundamentally important! These years provide the foundation that shape your child’s emotional, physical, social and spiritual development.

Sunrise ELC’s provide a loving and nurturing environment that helps to develop a sense of trust and security that turns into confidence as they grow! Our desire is to be an extension of your home, partnering with you to provide continuity of care for your child and family.

Sunrise provides a holistic approach to your child’s learning which is delivered by experienced and qualified early childhood educators who are invested in your child’s well-being. We provide the unique blessings of a Christian pre-school environment, which are embedded throughout our faith-based program.

Philosophy

Sunrise Christian School Early Learning Centre’s philosophy is to provide a caring, nurturing, and safe environment in which your child is encouraged to reach his or her full and unique potential. We believe that each child is precious and has wonderful God-given gifts and abilities that are to be nurtured and encouraged.

Aims

Our aim is to ensure your child can grow in the knowledge and understanding of the person and character of God, and can develop that character in both attitude and practice. We believe each child’s learning is based upon strong and positive relationships with caring adults and fellow students. Therefore, we seek to inspire stimulating play, meaningful conversations, and respectful interactions – all of which are important for him or her to learn more about themselves and others.

Constructive intentional play allows children to experience a wide range of activities, and provides an environment where they can ask questions, solve problems and engage in critical thinking. Life skills are developed, and your child will be equipped to make wise choices, to participate fully and actively in society, and to experience a strong sense of belonging, being and becoming.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is based on the Early Years Learning Framework in which we facilitate enquiry, play-based learning guided by your child’s interests. Our service caters for children from the age of 3 to 5 providing a strong transition program for children moving into reception by developing their pre-literacy skills and awareness.

Sunrise ELC’s are registered for government rebates based on your individual eligibility. We run under a Long Day Care model, open for 48 weeks of the year, 5 days a week. Please contact the school for more information regarding times, our affordable fee structure and visiting one of our services.

Junior School

Our junior school families share a close bond with our committed and caring staff, all of whom invest deeply in your child’s wellbeing. We aim to be an extension of the home, offering faith-based encouragement and support to all junior school students.

By building Christian character in your son or daughter, we strive to equip them to fulfil their potential, academically, emotionally, socially and physically. Your child will be encouraged to shine and be all who God has made them to be.

A biblical worldview forms the foundation for rich and diverse learning and allows students to develop enhanced thinking skills and enthusiastically engage in the joys of discovery.

Middle School

The Middle School Experience at Sunrise has been designed to meet the challenges of today's dynamic society. We aim to provide your child with the opportunity to develop both independent and collaborative learning in the context of a supportive, nurturing environment. We seek to foster his or her gifts and talents in a way that prepares them to successfully navigate the challenges, and respect the rewards, of life.

As part of a successful transition to secondary school we offer a range of specialised subjects introducing students to new skills and further developing previous learning. These subjects include financial literacy, technology and design, practical science, creative and critical thinking as well as practical life skills.

Middle school students have opportunity to practically apply their faith to the local and wider community. Your child will not only be encouraged to seek leadership responsibilities that actively connect them to the school community, they will also be given the chance to organise special events and support areas of need in the local and global community.

Towards the end of their middle school years your child can take part in transitional visits to partnered secondary schools, as well as a trip to Canberra where he or she can see, first hand, our democracy at work. There is also the chance to shine at the end-of-year concert or musical, the graduation dinner, and at presentation night.

Senior School

Your child’s Sunrise journey continues at our secondary campus at Marion.

At the Senior School, we meet the challenge not only of educating in secondary academics, but of helping parents to raise young men and women who are resilient in their faith, confident in their outlook, and prepared for their next exciting stages of life.

The school offers a curriculum that honours a Christian worldview, and equips students to defend it. It focuses on the key academic skills of literacy and numeracy throughout the grade levels, while giving access to a range of subjects in the sciences, arts and technologies.

The high school also offers a vibrant sports program that fosters participation in athletics, team sports and aquatics, complemented by popular outdoor camps at all grade levels. Events to inspire the artistic, dramatic, musical, and creative talent of students are regularly offered, as well as activities designed to nourish the spiritual life of students.

Our Grade 11 and 12 journey is facilitated through our own certification, with the pathway to university using the internationally accredited SAT.

At the heart of our school’s success is the authenticity of our belief and the investment in the quality of all our staff. For it is the positive teaching relationships that are established and fostered with every student, that will underpin your child’s unique educational journey and their pathway to shine.
