Whyalla School

Together we shine

We here at Sunrise Christian School Whyalla are committed to providing an excellent education for your child. Our Christian ethos is not just words on a piece of paper, but it forms the foundation of how and what we teach in all subject areas.

As we embark on the very exciting journey of Middle Schooling, there will be an emphasis on a strong base of core subjects with the addition of a good variety of complimentary electives. Our new $1.6 million Stage One building project is on course to be in place by August 2019, providing a perfect space for this learning and development to occur. The current Grade 6 and 7s will be able to get a taste for middle schooling as soon as we can move into the new building. Plans have been approved and tenders have gone out to get some of the groundwork and services done as soon as the end of May. The buzz in the community is that families cannot wait for their children to get involved with our Middle School Program! With the expertise in our group of schools, we are looking forward to this extension to our hugely successful Primary School.

The revamping of our Oval is in the last stages of completion. The children enjoy the bike track, even if it is just using it as a tag-pad at this stage. The actual lawn is in a very good condition with wonderful soccer games being played during break times. The plans for a new Nature Play area will commence in the April holidays and will see the completion of stage 1 where dirt will be shifted, and major structures put in place.

Sunrise School Students Boys
Sunrise Christian School Whyalla ELC

The school is growing at a rapid rate as we saw a record number of students enrolled in our ELC this year. Between the 3 and 4-year-old rooms, we have well over 50 students, which means the possibility to double stream our Reception class for 2020. Our decision to double stream our current Grade 1 class proved to be a wonderful success with some great learning taking place in both classes.

We are looking forward to celebrating our school’s 10th anniversary this year and have finalised the date to be the 1st of June 2019. It will see young and old come together in celebration of what Sunrise stands for and share in the blessings we have received over the years. Previous principals, students, and teachers will be present to enjoy the fellowship with our current families. It will take on the form of a fete where we will celebrate all the cultures we have here at Sunrise.

Please feel free to contact the school office for more information about our school. You are more than welcome to come in for a cup of coffee and a tour of our wonderful facilities at any time.

God Bless

We would love to welcome you to our wonderful town!
