A new middle school option that prepares students for future learning by developing character and leadership along with excellence in academics.
Middle School Curriculum
Our relationship and partnership with our sister school in Adelaide, Temple Christian College, will be key as we work together in developing the Middle School curriculum in regional areas. In Grade 7 and 8, all subjects will be compulsory, giving students experience in a wide range of learning opportunities whilst continuing to develop their education within the core subjects. In Whyalla, our new Aqua and Hydroponics setup will provide the perfect backdrop to incorporate the idea of sustainability and cross-curricular teaching.
At Grade Levels 9 and 10, students will have the opportunity to choose some elective subjects that can be studied more intensely. There will still be a broad group of core subjects that will remain compulsory and enable students to develop a strong foundation for study at the senior level.
Biblically-Based Middle School
Here at Sunrise, we are very blessed to have teachers that all have a Christian worldview guided by the Word of God. As a relational school and with the dedication of all our staff, our Middle School programme will provide every child with an exceptional preparation for whatever life throws at them and their endeavours to further their studies in Grade 11 and 12. It will aim to develop a continued love of learning, self-discipline and leadership skills as they learn and grow together.

There will be opportunities to step into leadership roles for both the grades.
We do want to make it clear that we are fully committed to moving on from here and establish the best Middle School concept possible with God’s help and the resources available to us. In our Middle School concept, we will provide the students with a broad academic core that will prepare them well for the demands of Grade 11 and 12. Subjects like Math, English, Science, History, Geography and Physical Education will form those core subjects. Those subjects will be complimented with electives such as Media Arts, Digital technology, Drama, Music and more. We are and will be committed to keeping the fees affordable. The fact that we are only going to Grade 10 will keep the fees lower as Year 11 and 12 are the expensive years. As soon as we have our Fee Schedule for the Middle school finalised, we will make it available.
For those who are already a part of Sunrise Christian School, uniforms will stay the same with one or two items as a distinctive to Middle School.
All Middle School students will have a digital device that the school will provide and manage. We want to make it as easy as possible for the parents and would like to take the heartache of choosing a device out of your hands. Education wise it make sense that we take the responsibility of making sure that the devices are age appropriate, always in good working order, which in turn ensures that education takes place in a more efficient way.
