Our History

In 2010 Ps Ted Evans the Pastor of Whyalla AOG and Chair of Whyalla Christian School approached Sunrise to seek help to stabilise and grow the school. It was agreed after a short time that Sunrise would take ownership of the school and help maintain a Christian School in the town. The school has grown steadily and is now thriving in the now financially rejuvenated city of Whyalla. A year later, Sunrise Whyalla added an Early Learning Centre for 3-5 year-olds. Director Nicole Fabian still runs the ELC and shares her knowledge with Sunrise families today.

Today, the school is led by the principal, Daniel Hamilton with governance, oversight and spiritual guidance entrusted to Adelaide Christian Schools (ACS), an incorporated association that governs several schools including Temple Christian College, Sunrise Christian Schools, Adelaide Christian Schools Early Learning Centres, Discovery Christian College, Queensland, as well as international schools, Faith Christian College South Carolina, USA, and Sunrise Bethel and Edai Town Christian Schools in Papua New Guinea.

Meet Sunrise Whyalla Principal, Mr Daniel Hamilton

I warmly welcome you to Sunrise Christian School Whyalla. Thank you for taking the time to seek out our school, we are confident that you will love what you find here.

I am a passionate educator and along with our wonderful staff, we aim to provide a warm and welcoming family experience that encourages all our students to achieve their best. Our school provides a diverse learning experience that smoothly transitions children from the Early Learning Centre into Primary School.

We are constantly striving to be innovative and progressive and firmly believe in nurturing children to reveal the best of their God-given talents. Supporting them and providing continual opportunities at every stage of their school life.

I would love to invite you to come in for morning tea and the opportunity to get to know us and our school. More than that, we would love to show you how we can partner with your family in the development of your child.

Meet our ELC Director, Ms Nicole Fabian

I have had the honour of educating and caring for children in Whyalla for 20 years from Kindy to Grade 1. I assisted in pioneering the first Sunrise ELC in Whyalla in 2011 where I have been a Teacher and Director.

I believe that each child is unique in the way they learn and interact with the world around them. My objective is to discover how each child learns best and to cater my approach according to their needs.

I strongly believe that children learn best when they feel safe, and supported and that they belong. I aim to ensure that all our children and their families feel that they are loved and respected in our Centre.

My goal is to never stop learning so that I can be the teacher and leader my families and staff need.
