Our History
The Naracoorte Christian school was started by members of the surrounding community. The school grew steadily, but in 2004, the local school could not keep going without support. Mr Kym Golding assisted as a consultant to the school as they navigated the challenges ahead. Kym and Sunrise Christian School supported Naracoorte by providing leadership and helped to negotiate registration with the Non-Government Schools Registration Board.
As part of the registration process, the Naracoorte Christian School became part of the Sunrise family. The Sunrise Christian School Board voted to bring Naracoorte into Sunrise in 2004.
The school stabilised and under the care of Ms Anne Dolan grew steadily to provide a quality education alternative for the community in Naracoorte.
Today, the school is led by the principal, Aaron Haines, with governance, oversight and spiritual guidance entrusted to Adelaide Christian Schools (ACS), an incorporated association that governs several schools, including Temple Christian College, Sunrise Christian School – Whyalla, Adelaide Christian Schools Early Learning Centres, Discovery Christian College, Queensland, as well as international schools, Sunrise Bethel and Edai Town Christian Schools in Papua New Guinea.
Meet Sunrise Naracoorte Principal
Mr Aaron HainesHello families
Sunrise Christian School understands the importance of the opportunity available to us to support all parents. We strive for an educational setting that provides students with an experience of belonging, individualised attention, spiritual and social formation, and both interesting and varied curriculum opportunities. We offer Reception to Grade 10 and help each student explore their full potential during these critical years of schooling.
We cultivate a culture of care and safety bringing a focus on learning and friendship. Each learning experience revolves around these pillars, equipping our students for further learning and the life skills to ready them for their exciting futures.
Building upon the high academic standards achieved in Primary, we continue in Middle School in ‘the pursuit of excellence for the glory of God’ in all areas. Individualised attention and reliance on continuous student data are incorporated into a broad group of core subjects. Areas of student interest are explored through a range of further subject areas, where we aim to be responsive to these interests.
Our Christian staff know the importance of faith and each student’s active personal relationship with God. They seek to make the connections between God’s Word and their students’ questions and life situations. Encouraging a life of service to others, in conjunction with fulfilling their unique God-given purpose, is the earnest objective of our staff. Partnering with parents, and the close family community brings a ‘tribe’ around each student that we believe is a unique characteristic of our Sunrise Middle Schooling.
I trust you will take the time to explore our website further and choose to join us, giving your child this unique educational opportunity.
